Low-density Polyethylene (LDPE)

Low-density Polyethylene (LDPE)

Polymer Type: Thermoplastic

Key Properties

  • Flexible and transparent
  • Good chemical resistance
  • Moisture resistant
  • Recyclable

Applications

  • Food packaging films and wraps
  • Plastic bags and liners
  • Squeeze bottles and toys

Additional Information

Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is a widely used thermoplastic known for its flexibility, clarity, and affordability. It offers good chemical resistance and moisture resistance, making it suitable for food packaging and various other applications. LDPE’s flexibility allows for easy processing and shaping into various forms, such as films, bags, and bottles.

This material also boasts good electrical insulation properties, finding use in wire and cable insulation. Additionally, LDPE is readily recyclable, contributing to its environmental sustainability. However, LDPE has lower mechanical strength and heat resistance compared to some other polyethylene grades.
